^ Yesterday I finished this 10th piece in the appearances series(100x120cm) ( a little anniversary moment for me ;-)
every time i finish one, i have already new ideas for the next, so as long as the ideas come i will continue in this series.

Joan Blaeu Atlas Maior

Last week, i visited my nephew, he showed me this atlas by Joan Blaeu from 1665 (originally, this is a new version :-)
Amazing isn't it? Beautifully decorated maps :-)! Perfect timing also, because at this very moment I am working on commissioned maps!
I love dreaming away in this book......
I also noticed that someone put on a striped scarf on this man showing the direction in Rotterdam, standing there all the time, very thoughtful!

Azulejos

The Azulejos means polished stone and was introduced by The Moors (earliest: 16th century).
Funny note: is that as demand grew, mass production became necessary and the Delft tiles appeared all over the walls!

A week ago we went to Lisbon, it was a great holiday full of energy, culture, history, delicious food and light.
If you are planning to go to lisbon sometime, you should book a guided tour at the museu national de arqueologia, about the underground remnants of the Roman period. It will enrich your holiday! :-)

These illustrations i made for Yes magazine, also some time ago already(december), which unfortunately brought out its last issue in december 2010. The article was about quitters and persistent persons.

Girls, here and now

Before the weekend i like to show you two other finished works, I call this serie: Girls, here and now.
The first one is the last one i made and it is the result of what i have been trying to do, it was in my head and finally i got it on paper, it feels comforting.
Drawings on 250 gr paper, ink, gouche, pastel, pencil.

..and now i am packing my bag for a small city trip to Antwerp! :-)
anyone some good citytriptips? i love to hear them!

Last week I had some drawing days, today i finished this one, it is one of a serie of 75x100 cm drawings.
In my new work i am bringing techniques that i uses separately so far, together. Searching for the good balance.
This drawing is made on 200 gr paper made with pencil, gouache, pastel, acryl, ink.

Hello!
After some days of recharging and a great time with family and friends, i got back to work today, start writing my to do lists.
The last year was full of wonderful projects in illustration and pattern design, i am truly thankful for this, it gave me the possibility to grow. So i will continue with the same spirit and i hope only good things will come from it.

This week i will be working on some personal projects,
I am adding colors to the canvasses that i started some weeks ago, I am drawing (really) big portraits on paper, working on a new website with a nice shop and well lots of other things on the list, so good for me that this is just the first week of the new year :-)

I hope you will enjoy the work that will come, and i am always happy to hear from you!

These are my new works on canvas,(in progress) i did not have a lot of experience in painting on canvas when i started with this series a year ago. Now i arrived at the 8th and 9th canvas.
I feel more comfortable with it now, because i learned what technique fits me the best.
still there is always a lot to learn...:-)

(Do you see the grey color on the wall, i love the color, i think it is a very calm and warm grey, i painted it some weeks ago :-)
